Fallos aleatorios al arrancar firexox / thunderbird

Hola:

De vez en cuando, al arrancar me sale la siguiente información:

Falló al contactar con el servidor de configuraciones; algunas de las posibles causas son que necesite habilitar TCP/IP para ORBit, o que tiene bloqueos de NFS debidos a una caída de sistema. Para obtener más información consulte http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/. (Detalles -  1: Falló al obtener la conexión con la sesión: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.)

En la página http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/, no he encontrado nada que sirva para evitar este fallo intermitente. La única forma de que no aparezca, ya que una vez que aparece, vuelve a hacerlo cada vez que se abre cualquiera de estas aplicaciones,  es cerrar la sesión del usuario y volverla a abrir. Esto me ocurre desde que he actualizado Thunderbird y Firefox a las versiones:

He actualizado Firefox 3.6.2, que es una beta, por motivos de seguridad, pero también es cierto, que el problema me aparecía antes de que instalase esa versión, incluso cuando tenía instalado Thunderbird 3.0.3 solamente.

Una forma de provocar el error, es abrir una consola como root desde cualquier usuario e intentar arrancar Firefox desde ella. Luego, cuando se sale de la consola, siempre que se intente abrir cualquiera de esos programas desde ese usuario, aparece el error. Esto que he comentado es una forma de provocarlo, pero a mi me ocurre de forma aleatoria cuando intento abrir cualquiera de esos programas nada más arrancar el sistema y habiéndolo salido del sistema normalmente.
