Blogdrake recomienda descargar las imágenes de instalación (iso) vía torrent para evitar corrupción de datos, aprovechar mejor su ancho de banda y mejorar la difusión de las distribuciones.
Falla compilacion de vmplayer
Cada vez que actualizo kernel, cuando ejecuto vmplayer me pide recompilarlo Esto lo hago habitualmente, es mas, lo hace solo el programa al ejectutarlo Desde que actualice al kernel 2.6.36.2-desktop586-2mnb no puedo correrlo
Me sale este error:

Lamentablemente no encontre respuesta en el foro, asi que sali a buscarla en otros

Now you can install the modules. You can do this with either by
launching VMware and letting it install the modules from there with the
GUI or alternatively you can execute the command:
10. (Optional) Add vmware to the DAEMONS array in /etc/rc.conf so that the service is started automatically on boot.
11. Now, open your VMware Workstation (vmware in the console) to configure & use!

¿De dónde instalaste ese kernel 2.6.36 de Mandriva? ¿de los Backports quizás?
