Blogdrake recomienda descargar las imágenes de instalación (iso) vía torrent para evitar corrupción de datos, aprovechar mejor su ancho de banda y mejorar la difusión de las distribuciones.

El sistema se congela aleatoriamente

Desde que instalé Mandriva 2010.1, primero en su versión Free, y luego en la versión One (ambas con el entorno KDE), he experimentado como cada cierto tiempo, al estar haciendo cosas como configurar el aspecto de Plasma, configurando los repositorios, o navegando por Internet a la vez que chateo (como en este último caso), de buenas a primeras, el sistema se queda totalmente congelado, no responden ni ratón ni teclado y la única forma de recuperarlo es dándole el botonazo.

También he observado que tras el botonazo para recuperar el sistema, la máquina durante un periodo de tiempo es incapaz de dar señal de video al monitor, imposibilitando durante el mismo el arranque de cualquier sistema, ni siquiera el post de la BIOS.

Al principio pensé que podría ser ocasionado por el driver libre de Nvidia, ahora estoy usando el driver propietario de los repos, y ha vuelto a ocurrirme... lo que quisiera es que me ayudasen de forma guiada para probar el estado de mi hardware y saber qué es lo que puede estar provocando estos cuelgues.

Al instalar el driver propietario de Nvidia de los repos probé a dejar el sistema una tarde entera corriendo a ver si seguía colgándose, y no se colgó... así que di el problema por resuelto hasta que hoy me ha vuelto a ocurrir.

Quisiera una guía de comandos a usar para facilitarles toda la información necesaria.

Congelado completamente congelado, que no responde nada, ninguna combinación de teclas ni nada, y lo único que hace que eso cambie es el botonazo a la máquina.

Ajam, pues no he probado tal combinación, si vuelve a ocurrir lo probaré, aunque dudo que tenga ningún efecto, ya que el teclado no responde a nada, intenté el Ctrl+Alt+Backspace para reiniciar el servidor gráfico y el Ctrl+Alt+Supr pero nada, no tenían efecto alguno...

He comprobado que el sistema se cuelga antes si está Firefox en ejecución, ya que se cuelga aproximadamente a los 2-3 minutos (a veces menos) de abrir Firefox, no así cuando no se está ejecutando, lo que me hace sospechar de que ocurre en cuanto se consume cierta cantidad de RAM.

Este mensaje lo escribo desde el portátil ya que el PC en el que ocurre ha vuelto ha colgarse.

No sé en este momento qué dispositivo es /dev/sr2 :S. Tengo 2 lectores, ambos de CD/DVD, solo que uno es solo lector y el otro es además grabador. Por otra parte, la máquina tiene también un lector de tarjetas integrado.

En el momento de los cuelgues no estaba usando de todas formas ninguna de las dos unidades de CD/DVD, tampoco ningún otro dispositivo ni en el lector de tarjetas ni en los USB ni nada (salvo el teclado).

Pues ahí dice que /dev/sr2 está dando cascotazos. ¿Puedes probar desconectando de la placa los 2 dispositivos? ¿Podrías pasarla también unos tests al disco duro (con smartmontools) y a la memoria RAM (con memtest)? Tal vez estemos ante un error de hardware.

El memtest ya se lo pasé antes de instalar Mandriva 2010.1, y ningún error. Después, antes de la reinstalación, se lo pasé otras dos veces, y no dio errores. Al disco duro también le hice un chequeo con Seagate SeaTools, y todo fue bien aparentemente.

Y lo que me sugieres es... ¿que pruebe a abrir la máquina y desconectar los dos lectores?

El SeaTools no se lo que hace. Yo lo que quiero es ver el estado SMART del disco. Por cierto, me parece más preciso /var/log/syslog, que dmesg, ya que muestra la hora y la fecha.

Me ha pasado igual, al hacer una instalación limpia en un disco de pruebas.

Tengo actualizado por los repos cada versión desde 2009.1, y me va de maravilla, hasta me consume un 40% menos de memoria que la instalación limpia.

intentaré averiguar que pasa (no la uso), y reportaré si averiguo algo.

me a pasado lo mismo con la pc de mi hermano, lo estoy usando de conegillo de indias jejeje... antes de instalarlo en mi maquina, y eh notado que se congela de la nada, y ya se me congelo una vez simplemente dejandola prendida, no responde nada, ni siquiera puedo entrar alguna tty con ctrl + alt + f1....

auque cabe aclarar que no fue mi unico problema, ya que no podia siquiera entrar al entorno grafico, por suerte ya puede, y encontre que se debia a que kde ativaba por si solo los efectos de escritorio, aun cuando mi tarjeta no tenia aceleracion grafica (3D)... en fin... ese es otro tema.... 

Pero creo que se relaciona algo con este ya que creo que se deba a los drivers de video, ya que tambien tengo una laptop, donde tambien la instale y empece con el mismo problema de no poder entrar ni siquiera al escritorio... pero igual ya lo arregle

la pc de mi hermano utiliza el driver de video intel i810 and later, y la laptop usa el driver libre de la ati... ya que es muy vieja y no hay driver propetarios (o eso lei por este foro)...

la pc de mi hermano le instale mandriva free ademas que tambien fue en una instalacion limpia...

Según me paso por experiencia propia, resulto ser el controlador de la tarjeta de video me paso en 2 equipos con tarjetas integradas de la marca Askrock chip Intel, de la nada se quedaban congeladas y no había forma de hacerlas funcionar a veces sin estar en uso solamente funcionando, otras veces estando dentro del Office como única solución tuve que cambiar de versión en esas 2 máquinas.

# 106525 Nueva salida de "dmesg" sin errores, pero persisten los cuelgues

Definitivamente no tengo la más remota idea de cual puede ser la causa de los cuelgues aleatorios del sistema, y que aparecen un día sí y otro no... ayer por ejemplo, la máquina aguantó todo el día sin colgarse ni una sola vez, navegando con Firefox, con los efectos de KDE activados... ayer todo iba muy bien... y hoy de buenas a primeras se vuelve a colgar, hasta en 3 ocasiones...

Lo dicho, no comprendo la razón de los cuelgues, ya que hasta hace
unos días, con la 2010 iba de puta madre y jamás tuve ningún cuelgue de
este tipo.

Sólo se respeta a los que combaten, sólo vencen los que luchan, sólo triunfan los que resisten

Navegando encontre un problema similar reportado en bugzillia de NOVEL... para la distribucion OPENSUSE 11.3.. Parece que es una cuestion de XORG y MESA.... por alla va el problema... aunque en el reporte solo hablan de arquitectura X86-64 y video INTEL... pero por aca veo que hay problemas con NVIDIA y arquitectura i586....

Las caracteristicas del congelamiento son iguales alas reportadas..

Yo uso NVIDIA driver propietario en KDE 4.4, en i586, Mandriva 2010.1 y hasta hoy ningun cuelgue ni nada.. (SUERTUDO que soy)

me pasaba en opensuse con una intel, pero me parece que era el kernel xxxxx.34

en mandriva al principio me paso algo similar pero era porque habia instalado ese kernel, el experimental, despues me volví al kernel anterior y ahi funcionó, pero con una nvidia no me ha pasado. por lo menos con versiones actuales, de hecho en mi desktop tengo una y funciona bien

eso si no uso efectos gráficos. en versiones de mandriva anterior si se colgaba, pero se pasaba.

se quedaba congelado un rato y el disco empezaba a trabajar, me parece que era por la ram. bueno lo solucioné

le puse que swapeara mas, desactivé aplicaciones al inicio de gnome y le bajé el rendimiento a TRACKER(está en sus opciones)

adicionalmente le bajé las latencias a mis ram. quizá te ayude en algo. saludos.

KDE menos energia mas belleza :D
