¿Como instalo controlador sis 630/730 para Xorg?

Hola buenos dias. me presento ante su comunidad. ayer me acabo de instalar mandriva 2009 en mi equipo. es un pentium 3 de 800Mhz con 384 de ram. pero tiene un buen desempeño.

lo unico que me falla es que no me reconoce bien esta placa de video. asi que no puedo tener acesso ala aceleracion dri. la cual si funcionaba bien en debian lenny de la cual emigre.

intente desde esta pagina bajar el controlador

ero no funciono. pero creo que es por la version del xorg. me gustaria que alguien me oriente. para instalar esta placa de video. que a pesar que tiene un mal desempeño. rinde para trabajar ofimatica y ver videos sencillos.

Dispones de varios drivers para SiS:

  1. x11-driver-video-sis: (repositorio main) es el driver libre del proyecto xorg.
  2. x11-driver-video-sisdrv: (repositorio non-free) es el driver de SiS para tarjetas SiS.
  3. x11-driver-video-sisusb: (repositorio main) es el driver para vídeo SiS por USB.
  4. x11-driver-video-vesa: (repositorio main) es el driver genérico para gráficas que cumplen el estándar VESA (la SiS 630 es compatible VESA).

Yo probaría con el primero y con el segundo, y en caso de necesidad, con el cuarto. El tercero es evidente que no es para tu gráfica.

con el driver sis de x11-driver-video-sisdrv funciona el sistema grafico. pero al intentar un glxgears se me bloquea el sistema. lo cual me obliga reiniciarlo

Hola Jesús,

Como veo que vienes de Debian (que yo uso también a parte de Mandriva), no se si has probado usar las herramientas de Mandriva (centro de control) despues de configurar los repos (los drivers estan en non-free) para configurar tu tarjeta.
instale la misma en un portatíl ese verano sin problema con 2009.1 (te recomiendo esta versión mejor que 2009).
El sistema busca directamente el driver adaptado a tu hardware (en general no falla).
La herramienta gráfica es XFdrake

comento que con mesa dri rinde bien. lo que busco es que tenga aceleracion xv. el que utilizaba con mplayer y miraba bien los videos. pero ahora no se que hacer para hacer andar esta tarjeta de video. solo busco aceleracion para los videos

ahi dice claramente que me falta el modulo sisfb. el cual no se como agregar al kernel.

al parecer se carga el modulo sisfb. en el archivo /var/log/messages.

# 90254 hay un conflicto

miren mirando muchos logs y ver varios casos en internet. llegue ala conlusion que vesafb tiene un conflicto con sisfb. el primero se adueña de la gestion de video. al ver este. log lo dice

lo cual al cargar el modulo sisfb: sucede esto

ahi dice claramente si hay otro controlador de framebufer. pero la duda es como puedo hacer para desactivar el vesafb y utilizar el sisfb?

aqui le doy otra pista: cuando uso el x11-driver-video-vesa. pasa que cuando uso el comando glxgears trabaja bien. pero aun lento. al parecer porque es compatible con vesafb. ahora bien si uso el sisfb. se me congela la maquina me imagino que por que el controlador sisfb no alcanzo a cargarse por culpa de vesafb.

instale debian lenny en otra particion. copie el xorg. a mandriva. pero de repente se agrego una entrada mas de arranque donde especifica no cargar el framebuffer vesafb. este es mi grub

Por lo que veo, te arranca más o menos bien la SiS630 con dicho driver. Algún problema que en principio no parece ser la causa. Si se te cuelga al hacer un glxgears, primero haz un glxinfo a ver si te inicia el sistema OpenGL, también estaría bien que mostrases el xorg.conf.
