← Older revision Revision as of 22:19, 2 February 2026 (One intermediate revision by the same user not shown)Line 247: Line 247:  For more information on all drivers see here. For more information on all drivers see here. −Some laptops comes with "Hybrid Graphics", meaning they have two GPU: one is usually "internal" (or "integrated") into the CPU, and is called IGP (Integrated Graphic Processor), and the other is "dedicated", external to the CPU, and it is called "discrete" (DGP, Discrete/Dedicated Graphics Processor). −* The free Nouveau drivers support Prime GPU offloading out of the box, which can be used via the DRI_PRIME=1 environment variable (unless the proprietary NVIDIA driver is in use by, e.g., Mageia-prime). Refer to the Nouveau documentation to see how to configure X.Org to use NVIDIA Prime with DRI3.  −* As in Mageia 9, the Bumblebee package can be used to bridge the monitor to the NVIDIA GPU, allowing to access its processing power albeit with some overhead.  −* Mageia-prime can be used to configure the NVIDIA Prime supported by recent Linux kernels and X.Org servers. It allows to fully switch to using the NVIDIA GPU without the overhead of Bumblebee, and is particularly suited for use with CUDA.  −   −In all three cases, when configuring the graphics drivers, one must during install and the usual Mageia tools configure only the integrated GPU (at least in most Optimus configurations), as it is typically the only one physically connected to a monitor. (If failing, try the other way around.)      ==== Sound servers ==== ==== Sound servers ==== Katnatek

MGASA-2026-0030 - Updated docker-containerd packages fix security vulnerabilities

Mageia Security - 2 Febrero, 2026 - 20:16
Publication date: 02 Feb 2026
Type: security
Affected Mageia releases : 9
CVE: CVE-2024-25621 , CVE-2025-64329 Description It was discovered that containerd incorrectly set certain directory path permissions. An attacker could possibly use this issue to achieve unauthorised access to the files. (CVE-2024-25621) It was discovered that containerd did not properly handle the execution of the goroutine of container attach. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service. (CVE-2025-64329) References SRPMS 9/core

← Older revision Revision as of 13:43, 2 February 2026 Line 1: Line 1:  Freely translated from http://www.mageialinux-online.org/wiki/installer-les-pilotes-proprietaires-nvidia-et-ati-sur-mageia Freely translated from http://www.mageialinux-online.org/wiki/installer-les-pilotes-proprietaires-nvidia-et-ati-sur-mageia  +  +== modesetting display driver is upstream default==  +Upstream the modesetting display driver provided by x11-server-common is the default. It's newer technology than at least the GPU-specific drivers x11-driver-video-intel, x11-driver-video-nouveau and x11-driver-video-ati (aka radeon), so default for good reason. IMO it would be better in most cases to not install metapackage x11-driver-video. The only good reason I can think of to include all GPU-specific display drivers is that the modesetting does not support some ancient GPUs, 15 years old or older, e.g. Gen3 and older Intel (915, 945, [Q,G]3x, early Atom; Wikipedia). For most Intel GPUs, modesetting is clearly preferable to x11-driver-video-intel, and also for most NVidia GPUs not supported by the newer still nvidia-current-open-kernel-* and x11-driver-video-nvidia-*, to x11-driver-video-nouveau.  +  +morgano (talk) 16:19, 29 January 2026 (UTC) :  +  +Hi!  +  +This sounds like a subject suitable to discuss in a bug set to kernel & drivers maintainers.  +  +Best Regards  +  +/Morgan Mrmazda
