El lector de tarjetas dejo de funcionar

desde ayer no me funciona el lector de tarjetas sd, reinicio el ordenador y al principio enciende el led de control pero despues se apaga y no lee las tarjetas,
es posible que le haya dejado alguna cosa colgada al sacar una tarjeta antes de tiempo el otro dia. (mal hecho por mi parte pero de lost to de river)
como puedo reiniciar el lector de tarjetas o como puedo saber que es lo que lo tiene bloqueado

Creo que estas líneas hacen referencia al lector de tarjetas SD:
En cualquier caso, para asegurarte de que te lo detecta, emplea el comando lsusb para listar todos los dispositivos USB conectados (todos los lectores de tarjetas SD que conozco son USB, aunque sean internos, incluido el de mi laptop) y ahí te debería aparecer el lector.
En mi caso normalmente no aparece ningún icono en ningún lado hasta que introduzco una tarjeta SD y entonces si que me aparece el icono pudiendo acceder al contenido de la tarjeta.

El de mi portátil no usa una conexión USB para hacerlo, si no que es un chip interno de la placa base. Son éste tipo de lectores los que tiene problemas con las tarjetas Memory Stick, por ejemplo.

os cuento
se me ha ido la luz y al abrir de nuevo el ordenador dice que hay que hacerle un fsck manual (Que es eso? ni idea pero....)
con root le digo fsck y quita nodos huerfanos cambia cosas y yo que se, pero el caso es que el lector de tarjetas esta operativo y funcionando he tenido que montar la tarjeta desde el centro de control de mandriva en discos locales administrar las particiones de disco y alehop todo funcionando y comprobado cambiando tarjetas metiendo de varios tipos y usando el usb todo perfecto
