¿Cómo disminuir los mensajes de red en los log?

Me apareció un mensaje indicando sobre la red, pensé que podía ser un intruso, pero no, sin embargo veo en varios log (syslog, dmesg, auth.log), un montón de mensajes repetidos sobre la red, ¿se pueden hacer que disminuyan para evitar que ocupen demasiado?, además de evitar tantos accesos a disco.
Si no es posible desactivaré todos los mensajes.
