Blogdrake recomienda descargar las imágenes de instalación (iso) vía torrent para evitar corrupción de datos, aprovechar mejor su ancho de banda y mejorar la difusión de las distribuciones.
¿Como configuro una tarjeta atheros ar242x?
resulta que ya intente unos consejos en post parecidos pero aun no ha aparecido alguna mejora a mi problema.
lo que intente fue lo de bajar el dkms-madwifi, el kernel y demas cosas.

Algunos consejos:
0.- En vez de pegar un log gigante como es la salida de dmesg, puedes utilizar pastebin (http://pastebin.org/) para no ensuciar el post.
1.- ¿Qué tipo de tarjeta es, usb, pci? recuerda que no somos una base de datos de hardware ni adivinos ;)
2.- ¿Tienes configurados los repositorios oficiales y PLF?
3.- ¿Utilizaste el centro de control para configurar la tarjeta y la conexión? Aquí Mandriva instala los drivers necesarios para que las tarjetas soportadas funcionen.

1.-(ath_pci: wifi0: Atheros 5424/2424: mem=0x51300000) recuerda que aquí dicen que entre mas información aporte mejor y mas rapido sera solucionado el problema, asi que diriamos que tu pregunta esta fuera de lugar debido a que la respuesta ya se encontraba en el post
2.-efectivamente tengo configurados los repositorios oficiales y los plf.
3.-si use el centro de control mandriva en la seccion hardware, bajo unos paquetes pero no lo soluciono.
aparte descargue la ultima version del kernel y baje los paquetes dkms de la misma version del kernel, y no habia solucion, pero despues de reiniciar y entre en la nueva version del kernel ya funcionaba.
